Delhi Air Pollution News: Amid the worsening air quality in Delhi, the administration of Dr Ram Manohar Lohia, one of the largest Central government-run medical hospitals in Delhi, decided to run a special out-patient department (OPD) for the patients incoming with air-pollution-related sicknesses.
"We have decided that a special OPD will run for pollution-related illnesses where comprehensive care can be given to the patients and will include a multi-departmental clinic because pollution affects multiple organs," stated Dr Ajay Shukla, Director of RML Hospital.
While informing that doctors of 5 departments will provide their services for the new OPD, the director also said that the decision has been taken considering the high influx of breathing and other pollution-related illnesses.

"Five departments, including ENT, skin, respiratory tract, eye, and psychiatric departments, will be there. The OPD will run on Monday afternoons from 2 pm to 4 pm...Special OPD has been made as there is almost a 30% rise in the number of patients because of pollution," he added.
Earlier, New Delhi's health department issued a crucial public advisory on Saturday, warning residents against morning walks and heavy physical exercises due to the ongoing health emergency caused by pollution. The recently released advisory, featured in newspapers, offers essential health guidelines for residents of Delhi to shield themselves from the harmful effects of pollution.
The advisory specifically targets vulnerable groups, including pregnant women, senior citizens, children, and people with underlying medical conditions, advising them to minimise exposure to pollution. Recommendations include avoiding high-pollution areas such as congested roads, industrial zones, and construction sites.
Additionally, the advisory cautions against outdoor activities like morning and late evening walks, jogging, running, and other physical exercises, especially on days with severe Air Quality Index (AQI) levels. The Delhi government strongly encourages citizens to abstain from smoking tobacco products, steer clear of burning mosquito-repellent coils, and avoid the combustion of wood, leaves, and crop residues.
