Delhi Air Pollution:  Delhi woke up on Friday to a hazy morning with smog covering the skies as the air quality worsened. In the morning, the AQI in the national capital was recorded at 384 in the 'very poor' category at 7 AM, 7 notches above the 24-hour average on Thursday.

Slow wind speeds and unfavorable weather conditions over the past few days have led to increased accumulation of dust, smoke, and smog. Experts have warned that if effective measures are not taken immediately, there could be serious health consequences.

The most polluted area in Delhi-NCR was Noida's Sector 11, where the AQI was recorded at 438 in the 'Severe' category.

The rise in pollution levels comes after the restrictions under the Graded Response Action Plan GRAP-III were lifted a few days ago. Key restrictions implemented during the third phase included a ban on sports activities in schools, a halt to construction work, strict monitoring of polluting vehicles, and the deployment of water sprinklers and tankers to reduce road dust.

Additionally, the CAQM had directed authorities to intensify actions under Stage I and Stage II of GRAP to ensure that pollution levels do not rise again.

"Actions under Stage-I & II shall, however, remain invoked and be implemented as per the modified GRAP dated 21.11.2025 (copy enclosed), monitored and reviewed by all the agencies concerned in the entire NCR to ensure that the AQI levels do not slip further to the "Severe/ Severe+ Category".
