Delhi Airport News: The Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi is set to operate with its full Runway capacity as authorities have decided to restore services on all four 4 runways after 3 months. All four runways, including 10/28, will come into service on September 16 once again after months of upgrade.

Runway 10/28 Was Closed For ILS Upgrade

Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport temporarily closed Runway 10/28 from June 15 to September 15, 2025, for a critical upgrade of its Instrument Landing System (ILS) to Category III B standards. This enhancement enables safe landings in low-visibility conditions like dense fog, which is particularly crucial during the winter season.

Earlier, the upgradation was planned between the April to May period, but the Civil Aviation Ministry postponed the plan due to a change in wind patterns and operational constraints.

Airport Operation Difficulties Without Runway 10/28

As India's busiest airport, Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGI) handles thousands of flights daily, making it a critical hub for air traffic. With one runway closed for maintenance, the airport's arrival capacity took a significant hit, particularly during adverse weather conditions.

How Restoration Of Services On Runway 10/28 Will Benefit Flyers

The reopening of all four runways at Delhi's IGI Airport is a big win for passengers. Here's what you can expect:

- Fewer delays: No more getting stuck in long waits, especially during those foggy winter months when flights are often delayed.

- On-time flights: Your flights are more likely to take off and land on schedule, making it easier to plan your travel.

- Less congestion: Peak travel hours should be less chaotic, reducing the stress of rushing to your gate.
