The Delhi Police has arrested a 20-year-old employee at a bike showroom identified as Hasan Khan, for allegedly stealing Rs 6 lakh and electronic items from his workplace after his request for a salary increase was denied.

The police have managed to recover Rs 5 lakh and two high-end cameras from Khan, and they arecontinuing efforts to recover the remaining stolen items, according to Deputy Commissioner of Police (West), Vichitra Veer.

The incident took place on December 31 when Rs 6 lakh in cash and various electronic items were stolen from a showroom in Naraina, West Delhi, according to the DCP.

Following the investigation, police identified Khan as the main suspect after reviewing over 100 CCTV footage and questioning other showroom employees, the officer stated.

Khan, a technical staff member at the showroom with over a year of experience, used his expertise to cut off the power supply at his workplace in an attempt to avoid being identified.

"He also wore a helmet while committing the theft to conceal his identity. During interrogation, Khan admitted to committing the crime, claiming he was upset after the showroom management turned down his request for a salary hike," DCP Vichitra Veer was quoted as saying by PTI.

In another incident, thieves reportedly stole Rs 1 crore in cash and jewellery from the house of Sushil Diwan, a businessman and trade leader, who runs the Mangalam Saree showroom.

Diwan, a relative of Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, resides with his family at Shreeji Shivasa Estate on Govardhan Road. On Tuesday morning, he and his family left for the Govardhan Seva and Bhandara. When they returned around 5 pm, they discovered that the locks on the main door and rooms had been broken.

The stolen valuables had been stored in a safe. Authorities believe the thieves used an unmarked i-20 car for the crime. In response, the SSP has formed six investigative teams to probe the incident. The police are focusing on analyzing CCTV footage to track the unnumbered car and have identified two notorious criminals in the video.

Further interrogations are ongoing with Diwan's servant and close associates, and several suspicious individuals have been taken into custody.
