Delhi Blast: Congress spokesperson Shama Mohamed on Wednesday contradicted her party MP Imran Masood over his statement on Delhi suicide bomber. In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Mohamed stated that Umar Nabi, the bomber, was "radicalised terrorist" and not "misguided youth". Her remarks came a day after the Congress MP allegedly referred to Nabi and other blast accused as "misguided" youth, leading to criticism from the BJP. The Congress spokesperson also emphasised that Islam did not teach about killing anyone, adding that even suicide is prohibited in the religion.

“Do not kill yourselves (or one another). Indeed, Allah is to you ever Merciful." – Suicide is forbidden in Islam . Umar is not a misguided youth but a radicalized terrorist!" Mohamed stated in her post. Earlier on Tuesday, Masood stated that the people involved in such activities are misguided and they cannot present the picture of Islam.

"These are misguided people. The video that has come (of accused Umar Ul Nabi), I do not agree with that video at all. Because it does not present the true picture of Islam. Suicide is not permissible in Islam under any circumstances. You are committing suicide, killing innocent people along with yourself, so that is not the picture of Islam, nor is it the path of Islam," Masood stated.

While reacting to Masood's remarks, BJP spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla claimed that a group of people were trying to defend the conspirators. "In a video, the Delhi blast mastermind is justifying suicide bombing. On the other hand, like a spin doctor of terror, Congress MP Imran Masood says that these people are misguided youth. Ever since this terrorist attack occurred, it has started defending the terrorists," Poonawalla was quoted as saying by ANI.
