A white Hyundai i20 car that exploded near a traffic signal on the Netaji Subhash Marg near the Red Fort on Monday evening killed 13 people and injured nearly two dozen others. According to DNA test results, Dr Umar Nabi, a doctor at the Al-Falah University in Faridabad, was driving the Hyundai i20 car. The DNA samples found at the blast site were matched with Nabi’s mother.
The incident occurred on the same day investigators seized 2,900 kg of explosives, including ammonium nitrate, in Faridabad, Haryana. According to the officials, Nabi reportedly panicked and triggered the blast near the Red Fort after police arrested two key members of the ‘white collar’ module, Dr Muzammil Shakeel and Dr Adil Rather, and recovered 360 kg of ammonium nitrate from the rented house of Shakeel of Faridabad's Al Falah University.
