Delhi School Receives Bomb Threat Email, Students Evacuated; Search Underway

Delhi School Bomb Threat: A private school in Delhi's Greater Kailash area was evacuated on Friday after it received an email claiming that a bomb had been planted on the premises, reported news agency ANI, citing the police. According to the authorities, the email was received by the school around midnight, alleging that the explosive device had been placed there on Thursday. A bomb detection team was immediately dispatched to the site and a thorough search was conducted, but nothing suspicious was found.

"A dog squad was also deployed for the search, and after a comprehensive examination, we can confirm that there was no real threat," said a police officer, who is overseeing the investigation.

Speaking to reporters, Shalini Agarwal, the Principal of Summer Fields School stated, "We received an email late at night which was checked early morning today." She explained that the school followed the standard operating procedure (SOP) and evacuated the students within 10 minutes of receiving the email.

"We informed the police and the district administration, and we are grateful for the prompt support we received from the authorities," Agarwal said. "There was no panic amongst the parents and we are simply waiting for them to collect their wards."

The police and the bomb squad are currently present at the school, conducting a thorough inspection of the premises. Authorities have initiated legal action in the matter, and further details are awaited.

This is not the first time that schools in the Delhi-NCR region have received such threats. In May, over 130 schools, including institutions like Sanskriti School, Mother Mary School and DPS School, received bomb threats via email. The investigation agencies have suspected that the emails, which were sent to schools across the region, originated from a server located in Russia. However, the authorities have not yet been able to ascertain the motives behind these hoax calls.

"We are taking this matter very seriously and are working closely with the relevant agencies to identify the source of these threats and bring the perpetrators to justice," said a senior police official.
