A Delhi-based businessman has been booked by the police for allegedly molesting a Russian woman at a resort in Goa's Calangute. The incident took place on October 12 when the accused identified as 42-year-old Bipul Sharma and the victim met in a resort room to discuss a business proposal, Inspector Paresh Naik of Calangute police station told news agency PTI.

Naik said that the accused has been booked under section 354 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) after the Russian woman alleged that he forcefully grabbed and kissed her at a resort in Calangute in Goa.

“In her complaint, the woman alleged that she had come to Goa from Mumbai after the accused called her to discuss a business proposal. When the two met in the room of the accused he forcefully kissed her. The woman fled from the room and lodged a complaint,” Calangute Police Inspector Paresh Naik said.

According to Naik, the accused has not been arrested yet but has been summoned in connection with the matter.

In another incident which took place this month, an eight-old-year girl was allegedly kidnapped, raped, and bludgeoned to death with a stone by three people in Gujarat’s Rajkot. The police arrested as many as three people in connection with the incident and all the accused are known to the girl’s father, an official said.

Earlier in July this year, a female doctor was allegedly molested and thrashed by two men on in Madhya Pradesh’s Ujjain. The victim, identified as Zareen working as a physiotherapist was returning from her Centre. As she reached the Mirchi Nala area, the accused identified as Hitesh Badwaya followed her and then stopped her two-wheeler. The accused started assaulting her after she resisted.
