Aam Aadmi Party national convenor and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal will leave for a 10-day vipassana meditation course on December 19, soon after the conclusion of the winter session of the Delhi Assembly as per its scheduled dates.

However, the day coincides with the fourth meeting of the Opposition INDIA bloc in the national capital. Kejriwal will reportedly begin this retreat at an undisclosed location, news agency PTI reported citing officials.

Vipassana is an Indian ancient meditation practice in which practitioners abstain from all forms of communication, including verbal and gestural, for an extended period to restore their mental well-being.

This is not the first time Kejriwal is going to participate in a Vipassana meditation course. He takes part in this meditation course every year and this year he will participate from December 19 to December 30.

Meanwhile, it is uncertain whether he will attend the fourth meeting of the INDIA bloc scheduled for December 19 in New Delhi. This will be the opposition bloc’s first meeting following Congress’ defeat in Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan, and Madhya Pradesh Assembly elections.

Congress general secretary Jairam Ramesh earlier announced that the Opposition INDIA bloc’s fourth meeting will be held on December 19. "Judega Bharat, jeetega INDIA," the Congress leader stated. In its fourth meeting, the bloc wants to focus on the theme of unity ‘Main nahi, hum’.

INDIA alliance partners are likely to discuss the seat-sharing formula and election campaign ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. The last meeting of the 27 alliance partners was held in Mumbai in September in which various coordination committees were set up.

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, and former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister and Samajwadi Party leader Akhilesh Yadav reportedly expressed their inability to attend the meeting on the earlier scheduled date.

Earlier, AAP MP Sandeep Pathak said that they will constructively participate in the meeting and emphasised the need for opposition parties to come together in the interest of the country.
