Delhi Dehradun Expressway project: India’s ‘Queen of Hills’, Mussoorie, is set to become more accessible for the residents of Delhi as a 26 km long elevated road is being constructed to directly connect the Delhi-Dehradun Expressway to Mussoorie
The road on the Delhi-Dehradun Expressway will soon allow vehicles to bypass traffic, reaching Mussoorie directly and reducing congestion for Dehradun residents.
The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has proposed an elevated road project. The project, with its Detailed Project Report (DPR) nearing completion, promises to be a game-changer for both tourists and locals alike.

Once completed, the elevated road will offer a seamless route to Mussoorie, bypassing Dehradun city's congested roads. Passengers and tourists arriving from Delhi will be able to take the elevated road over the Rispana and Bindal rivers, avoiding the city's traffic bottlenecks.
"Land acquisition will be carried out in 26 localities to build the 26 km long elevated road in Dehradun. Land will be acquired by demolishing 2,614 houses built along the banks of the Rispana and Bindal rivers,” the New Indian Express quoted, Banshidhar Tiwari, Vice-Chairman of the Mussoorie Dehradun Development Authority (MDDA, as saying.
Officials associated with the project anticipate a significant reduction in travel time. The report quoting the official said, "Once the project becomes operational, tourists travelling from Delhi to Mussoorie will be able to reach their destination in just four hours by their own vehicle."
The estimated cost of Rs 6,100 crore will involve land acquisition and compensation to owners accordingly.
The New Indian Express, quoting government sources, added that affected individuals would have two potential options - monetary compensation or land in exchange for land.
