Delhi Police has registered an FIR regarding the bursting of firecrackers outside Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's residence in Civil Lines, North Delhi, to celebrate his release from jail, officials reported on Saturday.

The Delhi government on Monday imposed a ban on the production, sale, and use of firecrackers in the national capital to mitigate air pollution during the upcoming winter season.

An official stated that a case under Section 223 (disobedience to orders issued by a public servant) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita has been filed at the Civil Lines Police Station against unidentified individuals in connection with the fireworks display outside the Chief Minister's official residence.

The firecracker ban announced by AAP Minister Gopal Rai was ignored when AAP workers and supporters set off fireworks to celebrate the Chief Minister's release after 155 days.

Hundreds of AAP workers and supporters gathered outside Tihar jail and were observed setting off firecrackers outside Kejriwal’s residence on Friday.

"Like last year, we are imposing a complete ban on the production, storage, sale, and use of all types of firecrackers. The online delivery or sale of any kind of firecrackers is also completely banned," Rai stated.

This ban encompasses the production, sale, and use of all firecrackers, including environmentally friendly ones, within the capital.

Supreme Court on Friday granted bail to Kejriwal in a case filed by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) related to the abandoned Delhi excise policy.

Despite his release, the Supreme Court has considerably restricted the Delhi Chief Minister's powers. He is prohibited from visiting the Secretariat and signing any official documents without first obtaining approval from the Lieutenant Governor. Moreover, CM Kejriwal is forbidden from publicly commenting on the case, interacting with witnesses, or accessing any case-related official files.
