Delhi Fire News: At least seven newborns died in a massive fire that broke out at a New Born Baby Care Hospital in Delhi’s Vivek Vihar on Saturday night, news agency ANI reported citing officials. The officials said that at least 12 children were rescued from the fire incident. Out of the rescued children, one is on the ventilator while five others were admitted to a hospital. The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained.

As per a Fire Officer, Fire was extinguished completely, 11-12 people were rescued and taken to hospital and further details are awaited.

The Delhi Fire Services said that it received a call at 11:32 pm and nine fire tenders were rushed to the site immediately.
"A fire call from Baby Care Centre, near ITI, Block B of Vivek Vihar area was received. A total of nine fire tenders were dispatched," DFS chief Atul Garg was quoted as saying by news agency PTI.

Following the incident, the Delhi Police has registered an FIR against Naveen Kichi, the owner of the New Born Baby Care Hospital, under sections 336 (endangering the life or personal safety of others), 304A (death by negligence) and 34 (criminal activity) of the IPC. He is currently absconding.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has expressed grief over the incident and said, "The fire tragedy at a hospital in Delhi is heart-rending. My thoughts are with the bereaved families in this incredibly difficult time. I pray that those injured recover at the earliest."

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal called the hospital fire "heartbreaking", and asserted that those behind the negligence will not be spared.
The incident occured on the same day when at least 27 people were killed in Gujarat's Rajkot after a massive fire swept through a crowded game zone and the building collapsed. Following the incident, the operator and employees of the children’s hospital fled the spot and parents were also not informed.
President Droupadi Murmu, Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar, and Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed grief over the incident.
In another incident, a fire broke out at a residential building in Delhi’s Shahdara area on Saturday night. After receiving the information, five fire tenders rushed to the spot and 13 people were rescued and taken to a hospital, an official said.

"Delhi Fire Service control room received a call at 2:35 am that here a fire broke out inside the house here...there is only one exist here and that is the biggest problem in these buildings...people couldn't get out due to the heat and smoke...We have rescued 13 people...and shifted them to a hospital,” Rajendra Atwal, Fire Officer told news agency ANI.
