Delhi Fire Services (DFS) Chief Atul Garg on Friday said his department had not found any cash during a fire at the residence of Delhi High Court judge Justice Yashwant Varma while answering a fire call there. Adding a new twist to the controversy, the fire department chief denied the reports about heaps of cash at the official residence of the Delhi judge stating that firefighters did not find any cash during their operation.

The DFS control room received a fire call from Varma’s Lutyens Delhi residence at 11:35 pm on March 14. Two fire tenders reached the location by 11:43 pm and found the blaze confined to a storeroom stocked with stationery and household items. The fire was brought under control within 15 minutes, with no casualties reported.

DFS chief Atul Garg clarified that after dousing the flames, fire personnel informed the police and left the scene. ''Our firefighters did not find any cash during the operation,'' he asserted, countering earlier reports that cash was recovered from the premises.
