The shuttle parking has been developed by the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) at a project cost of Rs 63.7 crore. It will reduce congestion in the Greater Kailash area and solve parking issues that the residents of Delhi face when they visit the area for shopping and other works.
Features of new parking facility
Capacity: The Greater Kailash parking facility is expected to accommodate 399 vehicles near one of the busiest local shopping centres in South Delhi.
Shuttle parking: The parking is an automated shuttle system facility where driverless shuttles and lifts will be used to transport vehicles to and from their designated parking spaces.
Maximised space: The system using lifts and shuttles will maximise space, offer high-density storage.
How will it work?
To park a vehicle, the driver will have to enter the designated drop-off point. The automated system will use shuttles to move the vehicle horizontally and lifts to move it vertically to levels for parking it at a suitable slot.
