Chief Minister Atishi said on Monday that the Delhi government will deploy 10,000 civil defence volunteers, who were terminated from their jobs as bus marshals last year, to help with the implementation of pollution control measures.
Atishi stated during a press conference that after an official discussion, the decision was made to bring back the bus marshals and volunteers to help with pollution control measures.
The chief minister stated that the Delhi Pollution Control Committee (DPCC) and the Transport Department are among the agencies that would work together to deploy the civil defence volunteers.
In addition to monitoring vehicle emissions, keeping end-of-life vehicles out of the city, and assisting public transportation management in reducing dependency on private automobiles, volunteers will be responsible for making sure that pollution control measures are followed, according to Atishi.

"The bus marshals will be deployed across 13 pollution hotspots and other high pollution areas,” she said.
“They will also assist with inspections at 1,000 PUC (Pollution Under Control) centres to prevent any irregularities,” the chief minister added.
In November of last year, the 10,000 civil defence volunteers who served as bus marshals were dismissed. At a recent meeting of the Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), it was decided to deploy them for four months to implement different anti-pollution initiatives.
According to the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), the BJP engaged in a "conspiracy" to remove the bus marshals.
However, the BJP claimed that Atishi was only "taking credit without contributing anything" and that the reappointment was made at the party's request.
