Delhi GTB Hospital Fire: A 32-year-old patient was shot dead inside a government-run hospital on Sunday. The attack unfolded at the Guru Teg Bahadur Hospital, located in the GTB Enclave area of the city. The victim, identified as Riyazuddin, had been admitted to the hospital on June 23 for the treatment of an abdominal infection. In sudden turn of events, an 18-year-old assailant, whose identity remains unknown, entered the ward on the third floor and opened fire on the unsuspecting patient. 

According to eyewitness Chancal, a cleaning staff member at the hospital, the attack occurred around 4 pm while a doctor was attending to Riyazuddin. "The attacker burst on the scene and fired five shots at the patient," Chancal recounted, describing the scene that unfolded. 

Riyazuddin, the son of the late Islamuddin and a resident of the Khajuri area, succumbed to his injuries sustained in the attack. Police have launched an investigation into the incident and are currently scanning the hospital's surveillance footage to identify the motive and apprehend the fleeing suspect. 

Addressing the event, Delhi Health Minister Saurabh Bharadwaj vowed that "negligence will not be tolerated" and that "whoever is guilty will not be spared." He also announced a comprehensive review of the security measures in place at all hospitals across the city to prevent such incidents from occurring in the future.
