The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Saturday submitted a supplementary charge sheet against Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Sanjay Singh in connection with the Delhi excise policy-related money laundering case. Singh, who was taken into ED custody on October 4th, is currently held in judicial custody at Tihar Jail.
The chargesheet comes after the Delhi court issued a notice to the ED on Singh's bail application on November 28, with the matter listed for hearing on December 6. The ED has accused Singh and his associates of playing a role in the Delhi government's decision to grant licenses to alcohol shops and merchants in 2020, causing losses to the state exchequer and violating anti-corruption laws.

The ED's nearly 270-page supplementary chargesheet alleges Singh's involvement in the Delhi liquor scam or the excise policy case, where the AAP government's excise policy for 2021-22 is accused of allowing cartelisation and favoring specific dealers who allegedly paid bribes.

The ED has also called Manish Sisodia as a key conspirator in the case, who is already in jail.
Previously, the Delhi High Court dismissed Singh's challenge to his remand and arrest in the liquor irregularities case. The AAP has strongly refuted the charges, maintaining that the excise policy was not influenced by corruption. ED has undertaken over 200 search operations in connection with the case and filed its first chargesheet last year.
The CBI inquiry was recommended based on the Delhi Chief Secretary’s report which showed prima facie violations of the GNCTD Act 1991, Transaction of Business Rules (ToBR) 1993, Delhi Excise Act 2009, and Delhi Excise Rules 2010.
Recently, ED also summoned AAP supremo and Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal in connection with the case but he did not appear, citing the summon as ‘illegal and politically motivated’.
