Delhi Covid-19 Advisory

On May 26, the Delhi government issued an advisory to all hospitals in the city after daily COVID-19 infections crossed the 100-mark.

Urging people not to panic, CM Gupta said, “Guidelines have been issued to all hospitals, and the government is closely monitoring the situation.”

1. All hospitals must maintain adequate availability of beds, medical oxygen, essential medicines including antibiotics, and vaccines. Preparedness for any surge in Covid-19 cases is crucial. Hospitals should routinely assess and replenish these critical supplies.

2. Medical equipment such as ventilators, BiPAP machines, oxygen concentrators, and PSA plants must be kept in full working order. Hospitals are directed to regularly inspect and service this equipment. Immediate repairs or replacements must be prioritized where needed.

3. Hospitals should review and update their Covid-19 protocols to handle potential outbreaks. This includes triage systems, isolation facilities, and critical care infrastructure.

4. All health institutions must send positive Covid-19 samples for genome sequencing to Lok Nayak Hospital. This is vital for early detection of new variants. Timely submission of samples will support broader public health surveillance efforts.
