Delhi Lok Sabha Election 2024: Delhi is gearing up for the sixth phase of Lok Sabha Election, with all the seven parliamentary constituencies, including Chandni Chowk, North East Delhi, East Delhi, New Delhi, North West Delhi, West Delhi, and South Delhi set to go on polls today, May 25.
Here's a comprehensive guide to what will remain open and closed in the city on the polling day:
Delhi LS Polls: What Is Closed On Polling Day
School and College Closure: In view of the severe heatwave conditions and the Lok Sabha elections, the Delhi government has directed all private schools in the city to announce summer vacation until 30 June, effective immediately.
Government Services: Non-essential government services will be temporarily closed in Delhi today, 25 May to facilitate the electoral process.
Liquor Shops Closed: Ahead of the polling, all liquor stores and other licensed premises in Delhi will remain shut from 6 pm on 23 May to 6 pm on 25 May. Additionally, there will be no liquor sale in National Capital on the day of the Lok Sabha election result announcement, 4 June.
Bank Holiday: Banks will be closed today in Delhi to facilitate the electoral process.
Markets Closed: The Chamber of Trade and Industry (CTI), an organisation of traders, has called for all 700 markets in Delhi to remain closed today, 25 May in view of the Lok Sabha elections. The industrial areas will also observe a holiday. Although Retail sector can open their shops in the evening after casting votes.
Delhi LS Polls: What Is Open On Polling Day
Delhi Metro, DTC Buses: The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) and the Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) will be operational on the Lok Sabha election 2024 polling date to facilitate voter commute. The DMRC has announced that all metro lines will be operational from 4 AM today, 25 May.
Hospitals: Hospitals, medical, and other healthcare facilities will remain open today, prioritising the well-being of the people.
Commercial Establishments: Commercial establishments like hotels, restaurants, theatres, and malls will largely remain open, while they may start their operations later in the day to allow employees to cast their vote.
