A man was charred to death after his car caught fire on the Delhi-Meerut Expressway near Ghazipur late Friday night. The incident occurred when the victim, identified as Anil, a resident of Delhi, was travelling to distribute wedding invitations for his marriage scheduled for February 14.
Videos circulating online show Anil's Wagon R engulfed in flames. The exact cause of the fire has not been determined so far and an investigation into the accident is underway, police said.

Anil’s elder brother, Sumit, revealed that the family grew concerned when Anil, who had left in the afternoon, did not return by evening. "We tried calling him, but his phone was switched off. Around 11-11:30 pm, police informed us about the accident and said Anil was in the hospital," Sumit stated as quoted by Republic World.

This incident adds to a string of car fire tragedies reported recently. Earlier this month, two individuals were burned alive in Hyderabad when their car caught fire en route to Bacharam from Ghatkesar.
In December 2024, a driver was charred to death in Madhya Pradesh's Dhar district after his vehicle caught fire. That same month, a luxury BMW was reduced to ashes within minutes on Mumbai’s Jogeshwari Bridge.

Other cases include a car fire in Jaipur in October, which caused panic as the burning vehicle moved across the road and a November 2024 incident in Delhi’s Dwarka Sector-1, where two individuals narrowly escaped as their car was completely gutted.
