A man in Delhi’s Khyala killed his sister-in-law, chopped niece’s finger, and attacked another relative on Tuesday over suspicion that they helped his wife elope with another man.
According to the police, the accused hacked his sister-in-law, Nusrat, to death, who worked as a bouncer. Other relatives, Akbari and Nusrat’s daughter Saniya were severely injured in the attack and are undoing medical treatment at a hospital.

Police were told by the complainant, Usman, that the accused, Istekhar alias Babbu, attacked a woman inside the house. Babbu, who is a resident of Loni in Ghaziabad, reached Nusrat’s home at 7 am when she was sleeping.
The accused had a newly purchased cleaver hidden inside a tiffin box. When Nusrat woke up and offered him tea, he allegedly took out the weapon and attacked her multiple times on the chest and neck, killing her on the spot, they said.
When Nusrat’s daughter rushed to intervene, Babbu chopped her one finger and also attacked Nusrat’s elder sister in-law, striking her on the head and neck, the sources added.
The initial probe suggests that Man was suspicious that Nusrat had helped his wife elope with another man and was furious about it. Nusrat’s husband is lodged in jail, making her the sole breadwinner of her family and she has four daughters. Before working as a bouncer, she used to work as a civil defence volunteer.
