Delhi-Meerut Travel: The much-anticipated Namo Bharat Train and Meerut Metro are set to receive the green light. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will flag off both trains on February 22 in presence of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. Along with this, the Prime Minister will also address a rally, for which the site has been selected in Mohiuddinpur where a new township dedicated to former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee is to be developed.

The Namo Bharat Express service currently operates from Meerut South (Bhudbaral) in Meerut to New Ashok Nagar station in Delhi. Currently, this section carries an average of 60,000 passengers daily, and was inaugurated by PM Modi in two phases at different times.

Now, the Namo Bharat service is scheduled to begin at Sarai Kale Khan in Delhi and the remaining three stations in Meerut (Shatabdi Nagar, Begumpul, and Modipuram), covering the entire corridor. The metro will also run on the same track from Meerut South Station to Modipuram Depot Station in Meerut. This will also be inaugurated simultaneously.

The metro will stop at all 13 stations. The Meerut Metro will also operate on a 23-km section of the 82-km corridor. The Namo Bharat Metro's maximum operating speed is 160 km/h, while the Meerut Metro's maximum speed is 120 km/h.

The construction work of this project costing Rs 30,000 crore was started in March 2019, which was targeted to be completed in June 2025.

Security clearances for Namo Bharat Metro and its operations to Modipuram Station have already been obtained. The necessary entry and exit gates for passengers are ready. All three underground stations are also ready. Modipuram Depot Station and Modipuram Depot are currently under construction and will take time to complete.

The metro will be launched soon, so for seven to eight months, the metro will be brought from Dubai. It's worth noting that the Namo Bharat Express operates from the Duhai depot, while the Modipuram depot is being built for metro operations.
