Delhi Metro Corridors Expansion: Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the First Ring Metro (Pink Line) in New Delhi on Sunday. The PM will also lay the foundation of the Magenta line and inaugurate several other significant infrastructural projects as well.

The project carries an investment of about Rs 33,500 crore. The project covers two new corridors in the Delhi Metro Rail Cooperation with a budget of about Rs 18,300 crore.

Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said that the project would boost connectivity, offer smoother commuting routes, and ease traffic congestion to a great extent. The project is expected to cater to the residents of the National Capital Region, especially the people from Noida and Faridabad, offering quicker and easier access to the Indira Gandhi International Airport.

Delhi Metro Corridors Expansion: Pink Line (From Majlis Park to Maujpur-Babarpur corridor)

 

PM Modi inaugurated the Pink Line, which stretches from Majlis Park to Maujpur Babarpur, covering eight stations. The lines cover a distance of about 12.3 kilometers. The major stations along this corridor will be Majlis Park, Burari, Jharodha Majra, Jagatpur-Wazirabad, Surghat, Nanaksar, Sonia Vihar, Khajuri Khas, Bhajanpura, Yamuna Vihar, and Maujpur-Babarpur. The corridor will be India's first ring metro line, stretching across several parts of Delhi.

Delhi Metro Corridors Expansion: Magenta Line (Deepali Chowk-Majlis Park Corridor)

The Prime Minister will then inaugurate the Magenta line stretching from Deepali Chowk to the Majlis Park. The stretch will pass through several stations, including Deepali Chowk, Madhuban Chowk, North Pitampura-Prashant Vihar, Haiderpur Village, Haiderpur Badli Mor, Bhalswa, and Majlis Park Corridor. According to Delhi CM Gupta, a portion of the corridor reaches a height of approximately "28.36 meters, making it one of the most elevated sections in the Delhi Metro Network."

Delhi Metro Corridors Expansion: New Metro Corridors Under Phase V-A

Apart from the inauguration of two corridors, PM Modi is also expected to lay the foundation for three new routes under Phase V-A. The proposed corridors are:

Central Vista Corridor connecting RK Ashram Marg to Indraprastha
Golden Line Extension from Aerocity to Indira Gandhi Airport Terminal 1
Golden Line Extension from Tughlakabad to Kalindi Kunj
According to authorities, these lines will enhance connectivity between Noida, South Delhi, and the airport.

GPRA Redevelopment Projects

PM Modi will also visit the General Pool Residential Accommodation Redevelopment Plan (GPRA) Type 5 quarters and hand over keys to the female allottees. He will then lay the foundation stone for projects worth TRs 15,200 crore under the GPRA. The projects will be implemented at Sarojini Nagar, Netaji Nagar, Kasturba Nagar, and Sriniwaspuri with the aim to develop government housing colonies and enhance improved infrastructure for government employees and administrative offices.

Upon completion, the project will provide 9,350 modern flats to government employees, with 48 lakh square feet of office space, for enhancing administrative efficiency and generating monetisation potential.
