The development of Metro Phase-IV's Aerocity-Tughlakabad corridor would move forward after Delhi Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena approved the acquisition of land in Khanpur Village, Raj Niwas authorities said on Tuesday. According to reports, Saxena approved the acquisition of 1,688 square metres of land in Khanpur Village, south Delhi.
The LG also approved the transfer of 1,600 square metres of land owned by the Education Department to DMRC for a year in exchange for a rent of Rs 13.37 lakh. According to officials, this will make it easier to build interchange stations on Delhi Metro's RK Ashram-Majlis Park and Indraprastha-Inder Lok Corridors.
This vacant site will be utilised to build an underground station on Idgah Road, known as the Nabi Karim Metro Station.
The piece of land being ceded to DMRC will have an underground station built beneath it, and when the project is finished, the Education Department will regain possession of it, they said.

DMRC had submitted a proposal for purchase on July 7, 2020, but the land at Khanpur had been waiting for almost four years. This crucial portion of the Aerocity-Tughlakabad metro route would be finished in about a year after the acquisition, according to the officials.
According to them, this would make it much simpler for people to commute from the heavily crowded colonies in southeast Delhi to the airport and other points along the route. It will also assist to alleviate the ongoing traffic congestion on the Mehrauli-Badarpur Road.
When completed, the Nabi Karim interchange station on Idgah Road would facilitate smooth metro transit for commuters using the Delhi Metro's widely used RK Ashram-Majlis Park and Indraprastha-Inder Lok corridors, officials continued.
