Delhi Metro Phase-4: In a major boost for public transport in the national capital, the Delhi Metro will soon get a new line connecting Lajpat Nagar to Saket G Block. This crucial corridor has been approved under Phase-4 of the Delhi Mass Rapid Transport System and will be developed at an estimated cost of over Rs 400 crore.

The announcement was made by Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL), the construction arm of the Ministry of Railways, which will be undertaking the project.

“This project will further facilitate smoother, more sustainable, and more efficient public transport in the national capital. The project is valued at approximately Rs 447.42 crore (inclusive of GST) and is expected to be completed within 36 months," the Rail Vikas Nigam Limited said in a statement.

Delhi Metro Phase-4: Check New Station Names

The new metro line will stretch over 7.298 kilometers and will be completely elevated. It will feature seven new metro stations: Saket G Block, Pushp Vihar, Saket District Centre, Pushpa Bhawan, Chirag Delhi, Greater Kailash-1 (GK-1), Andrews Ganj, and Lajpat Nagar. These stations are set to significantly enhance connectivity across South Delhi, offering smoother travel options for thousands of daily commuters.

RVNL officials noted that this is their first project under the Delhi Metro system. The organization, which operates under the Ministry of Railways, sees this as a key step in expanding its role in urban transit development.

RVNL, which is already handling metro rail developments in eight cities across India, sees this as a major opportunity to strengthen Delhi’s public transport system.

“This project is a significant opportunity for RVNL to contribute to the future-ready infrastructure of Delhi. We are committed to delivering it with excellence, safety, and innovation, fully aligned with DMRC’s vision of creating world-class urban mobility systems," Pradeep Gaur, Chairman and Managing Director, RVNL told PTI.
