Delhi Metro Update:  Delhi Metro, often referred to as the lifeline of the national capital, is experiencing delays on the Blue Line on Thursday. Passengers are likely to face this disruption throughout the day.

The delay is due to an incident of cable theft on the Blue Line, which has affected metro services. As a result, commuters heading to schools, colleges and offices have faced inconvenience this morning.

DMRC has urged passengers to plan their travel due to the service disruptions. “There is a delay in services on the Blue Line due to a cable theft between Moti Nagar and Kirti Nagar. The inconvenience is regretted," DMRC said in a post on X. 

The Delhi Metro also announced that train services will return to normal after 11 pm tonight, advising commuters to plan their travel accordingly.

“The cable theft issue on the Blue Line between Moti Nagar and Kirti Nagar will be rectified only after the end of operational hours in the night. Since the trains will operate on restricted speed on the affected section during the day, there would be some delay in services. Passengers are requested to plan their journeys accordingly as the journey shall take some additional time,” it added.

The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) completed the longest underground tunnel on Wednesday, connecting the Tughlakabad Airforce Launching Shaft to Maa Anandmayee Marg on the Tughlakabad-Aerocity corridor of Phase-IV, according to an official statement reported by PTI.

A 105-meter-long tunnel boring machine (TBM) broke through at Maa Anandmayee Marg station this morning, after excavating a 2.65-kilometer tunnel. The statement also noted that two parallel circular tunnels are being constructed for upward and downward movement as part of the Aerocity-Tughlakabad corridor project.
