The Delhi Police on Sunday informed that some miscreants have written pro-Khalistan slogans on the walls of more than five metro stations in the national capital, ahead of the G20 Summit.

Slogans like ‘Delhi Banega Khalistan’, and ‘Khalistan Zindabad’, surfaced on the walls of more than five metro stations. Following this, the Delhi Police said that they are taking legal action against this.

“In more than 5 metro stations somebody has written 'Delhi Banega Khalistan and Khalistan Zindabad'. Delhi Police is taking legal action against this," Delhi Police said, as quoted by news agency ANI.

The Delhi Police also said that Sikhs For Justice (SFJ) activists were present in various metro stations of the national capital with pro-Khalistan slogans.

“Ahead of the G20 Summit, Sikhs For Justice (SFJ) released raw footage of Delhi metro stations where Khalistan pro slogans are written. SFJ activists were present in multiple metro stations in Delhi from Shivaji Park to Punjabi Bagh with pro-Khalistan slogans,” the Delhi Police said.

In a video shared by news agency ANI, a Delhi Police official was seen removing the pro-Khalistan slogans written on the wall of  Shivaji Park Metro station. 

Following this, Ram Gopal Naik, DCP Metro said that a case was registered under sections section 153 A, section 505 and the Defacement Act. The Delhi Police also took cognisance of the video. “We have lodged an FIR against unknown accused. Strict legal action will be taken for tampering with security arrangements before the summit. SFJ lures men to do their work for money. We will be making arrests soon," said a Delhi Police spokesperson.

The incident took place on a day when the Delhi Police was holding a ‘carcade’ rehearsal from various points to Pragati Maidan in preparation for the G20 Summit. The G20 Summit will be held in the national capital on September 9 and 10.

The Personnel Ministry on Thursday informed that all central government offices in the national capital will be closed from September 8 to 10 ahead of the G20 Summit. Many heads of state including US President Joe Biden, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, and French President Emmanuel Macron are expected to be attending the G20 Leaders’ Summit.

Meanwhile, the Delhi Police has made security arrangements, including the deployment of more than 450 quick response teams (QRTs) and PCR vans, over 50 ambulances, firefighting machinery in and around the airport, Pragati Maidan, Rajghat, and along the routes to be taken by dignitaries and delegates, as reported by news agency PTI.
