Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has announced that it will extend the operating time of the metro at night by about an hour on the days when the World Cup cricket matches will be held at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. The metro will run till late at night on all corridors except the Airport Express Line so that the spectators can easily reach back to their homes by metro after watching the match. The extended service will be available on October 7, October 11, October 15, October 25 and November 6.

The Delhi Gate metro station of Violet Line (Kashmiri Gate-Badarpur-Ballabhgarh) which is the closest metro station to the stadium is expected to see a surge in crowd after the match is over. DMRC stated that it will make 24 additional trips and deploy additional staff at Delhi Gate Metro Station on the match days. Passengers can use various interchange stations to reach Delhi Gate station on the Violet Line from other lines.

The last metro trains from all transit stations at night are normally available at 11 pm. However, on the match days, the timing of the last metro trains leaving from metro transit stations will be changed as follows:

  • Red Line: Shaheed Sthal (New Bus Adda) Station - 11:30 PM, Rithala Station - 11.35 PM

  • Yellow Line: Samaypur Badli Station - 11.35 pm

  • Blue Line: Dwarka Sector 21 station to Noida Electronic City - 11.08 pm

  • Green Line: Kirti Nagar Station - 12.10 AM, Inderlok Station - 12.20 AM

  • Violet Line: Kashmiri Gate Station - 11.30 pm

  • Pink Line: Majlis Park Station - 11.20 pm, Shiv Vihar Station - 11.15 pm

  • Magenta Line: Janakpuri West Station - 11.40 pm, Botanical Garden Station - 12 midnight

  • Gray Line: Dwarka Station - 12.30 pm, Dhansa Bus Stand Station - 12.15 pm
