Delhi Monsoon Update: Delhi residents got some relief from the heat earlier this week as rain showers, thunderstorms, and strong winds brought down temperatures across the city. However, the respite was short-lived. Since Saturday, temperatures have risen sharply again, with scorching heat and humid conditions making outdoor activities uncomfortable.
While several states have already started receiving monsoon rainfall, leading to a drop in temperatures, Delhi continues to await the arrival of the southwest monsoon.
The southwest monsoon reached Kerala on June 4, three days later than its normal onset date of June 1 and nearly a week behind the India Meteorological Department's (IMD) earlier forecast of May 26. However, it advanced rapidly thereafter, covering large parts of the west coast up to Goa by June 5 before entering Maharashtra on June 6.
With the monsoon progressing steadily, the key question on the minds of Delhi residents is: When will the monsoon reach the national capital?

According to the IMD's monsoon tracking map, the southwest monsoon is expected to arrive in Delhi and the National Capital Region (NCR) between June 25 and June 30.
A similar timeline has been projected for neighbouring areas, including Noida, Gurugram, Ghaziabad, and other parts of northern India.
After reaching Delhi, the monsoon is expected to advance further northwest into parts of Haryana, Punjab, Chandigarh, Himachal Pradesh, Ladakh, and Jammu & Kashmir.
Last year, the southwest monsoon reached Delhi on June 29, two days later than its normal onset date of June 27.
Delhi weather forecast for the next seven days
Delhi is expected to experience hot weather over the coming week, with maximum temperatures likely to range between 36 degrees C and 41 degrees C, while minimum temperatures are expected to remain between 26 degrees C and 29 degrees C.
Meanwhile, the city's minimum temperature was recorded at 27.7 degrees C on Sunday morning. The IMD has forecast a partly cloudy sky, with the possibility of thunderstorms and lightning later in the day.
