The traffic movement in the Delhi-NCR has been severely affected on Tuesday due to two protests: a youth-led Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) agitation at Jantar Mantar and a farmer's call to enter the capital in large numbers via the Shambhu border.
On Monday, the CJP led a massive march to Parliament, but barricading, lathi charge and tear gas shelling caused tensions. Vehicles, including those of police, were also vandalised by protestors. The scuffles led to injuries to over 60 protestors and 118 cops. At least 70 were detained.
A day later, the tensions slightly eased, but barricading remained in place as a precautionary measure as protests resumed at the Jantar Mantar.
The heavy barricading kept the traffic movement slow in Central Delhi. Simultaneously, a thick layer of security was erected on the Punjab-Haryana border as a call for a march to Delhi was made by a farmers' organisation.

Farmers' call for Mahapanchayat
The farmers had planned to hold a 'Mahapanchayat' in the capital against the proposed India-US trade deal. As a result, a large number of farmers thronged the Shambhu Border.
The security architecture of the entire capital was enhanced, and so traffic movement was affected at the Delhi-Ghaziabad Border and UP Gate in Ghaziabad, Delhi-Meerut Expressway, and NH-9.
Traffic advisory
Earlier in the day, Delhi Police issued a traffic advisory regarding the Mahapanchayat at Kishan Ghat. The traffic police advised commuters to avoid the affected routes around Satyagrah Marg, Velodrome Road, Rajghat DTC Depot Road and adjoining areas.

Those travelling to the airport or railway stations were requested to plan their journeys well in advance.
