Delhi Weather Updates: Several parts of the Delhi-NCR on Friday received heavy rain with gusty winds and thunderstorms, bringing respite from hot and humid weather. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast a generally cloudy sky with light to moderate rain or drizzle during the day. According to the weather department, the same weather will remain for the next five to six days. 

"Thunderstorm with light to moderate intensity rain with heavy intensity rain over few places and gusty winds with speed of 50-70 Km/h would occur over and adjoining areas of entire Delhi and NCR (Loni Dehat, Hindon AF Station, Ghaziabad, Indirapuram, Chhapraula, Noida, Dadri, Greater Noida, Gurugram, Faridabad, Manesar, Ballabhgarh) Gannaur, Sonipat, Kharkhoda (Haryana) Sakoti Tanda, Hastinapur, Baraut, Meerut, Modinagar, Pilakhua, Hapur, Daurala, Bagpat, Khekra (UP)," IMD wrote on 'X' (formerly known as Twitter). 

 

Meanwhile, Shamli, Muzaffarnagar, Kandhla, Khatauli, Chandpur, Kithor, Garhmukteshwar, Gulaoti, and Sikandrabad areas of Uttar Pradesh are also expected to receive light to moderate intensity rain during the next two hours. 

Delhi-NCR is most likely to experience gusty wind of speed 50-70 kmph and moderate rain with a few occasional intense spells due to approaching clouds from North West Uttar Pradesh till around 0:30 AM today, thereafter, THE gusty wind and rain spell will decrease gradually, the IMD said. 

Following heavy rain in parts of Delhi-NCR, the IMD has also issued an advisory for rainfall. Traffic congestion and slippery roads are expected due to heavy rain spells and waterlogging, the weather department said.  

Traffic Advisories

- Stay indoors, close windows and doors and avoid travel if possible.

- Take safe shelters; do not take shelter under trees.

- Do not touch electric open wires and avoid standing near electric poles.

- Immediately get out of water bodies.
