Delhi-NCR Weather: The residents of Delhi and other nearby cities, including Noida and Ghaziabad, witnessed a dust storm in the early hours of Thursday, providing relief from the scorching heat. This is the fourth instance when a dust storm has hit the national capital, but the rain has been below the average. As per the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Delhi and its nearby cities are expected to witness rain in the first week of July. 

IMD Forecast For Delhi-NCR

The residents of Delhi witnessed scorching heat in the months of May and June, leading to inconveniences. While the national capital received occasional rains, it only provided temporary relief. However, as the monsoon has advanced, the northern states are likely to get continuous and intense rain for the next few days. The change in weather on Thursday is expected to reduce the temperature by two to four degrees Celsius, providing much-needed relief.

Along with rain, the national capital is also likely to witness thunderstorms, gusty winds, and lightning for the next few days. While the maximum temperature is likely to be calculated at 31 degrees Celsius, the minimum temperature is expected to remain around 25 degrees Celsius. The change in weather will provide relief from rain, but will also cause waterlogging in multiple areas, leading to inconveniences to the commuters.

Rain Expected In Multiple States

The weather department has advised the residents to follow the guidelines and limit their outings during the rain to avoid inconveniences. Apart from this, the commuters have also been advised to not travel during the dust strom and priorities the public transportation.

As per the latest IMD forecast, several northern states, including Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, and Jharkhand are also likely to witness light to heavy rain, thunderstorms, and lightning at least till July 10.
