Delhi Weather: Almost contrary to what we have been reading in the India Meteorological Department’s forecast, very heavy rainfall lashed Delhi and the National Capital Region (NCR) in the early morning on Saturday, and it is expected to intensify in the coming hours. According to the IMD's Mausam website, thunderstorms with rainfall are expected in Delhi NCR, while a yellow alert has been sounded in Noida and Ghaziabad for thunderstorms and lightning.
Earlier on Friday night, despite IMD not expecting heavy rainfall for the national capital, incessant monsoon rain caused waterlogging and severe traffic snarls at several places. The traffic bottleneck is expected to worsen due to the influx of crowds on Delhi’s roads. Commuters have been advised to brace for delays on Rakshabandhan.
