Delhi-NCR weater today:The residents of Delhi-NCR are likely to get relief from the high temperature of 38-39 degrees Celsius as the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for thunderstorm, lightning, dust-storm with a possibility of light rains today.

During the day, the maximum temperature is likely to settle at 39 degrees Celsius while the maximum humidity level would likely be at 60 per cent. Meanwhile, the minimum temperature in the national capital is likely to be around 25-27 degrees Celsius today.

The skies will be mostly cloudy throughout the day till April 22. The weather department in its bulletin has further said that the maximum temperature may fall by 2-4 degrees Celsius during the next 48 hours.

Next week forecast

As per the met department, Delhi will witness a hot day with a maximum temperature of around 38-39 degrees Celsius from tomorrow. No rainfall has been forecast by the weather department for next week. After April 22, the skies will remain clear with bright sunshine.

On April 23, 24, strong surface winds will blow as the maximum temperature will reach 40 degrees Celsius on April 26. The heatwave conditions are likely to return to the national capital region after April 26. It must be noted that with time, the accuracy of the forecast decreases and hence, there are always possibilities of sudden changes in the weather.

Along with Delhi-NCR, the yellow alert has also been issued for western Uttar Pradesh, eastern Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, and Ladakh.

Delhi air quality improves

Meanwhile, air quality in Delhi improved to the 'moderate’ category on Sunday morning. Last week, it was in the 'poor' category. According to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), the Air Quality Index (AQI) at 8 am on April 20 was recorded at 150. On Saturday, the AQI was 166 in the morning.
