Three individuals were arrested in Delhi on Monday for allegedly kidnapping a Bengal-based businessman and demanding a ransom of Rs 3 lakh from him, police said.
The incident occurred on September 20, when the victim, a businessman from West Bengal named Babloo Yadav, arrived in Delhi from Siliguri's Bagdogra Airport, police said.
According to the police, Yadav was picked up from the airport in a taxi arranged by his friend Ajay and left off at Sector 21 in Dwarka. Yadav had traveled to this area to buy apples from the wholesale market at Azadpur Mandi.

When Yadav arrived in Dwarka, Ajay drove him to a remote apartment where one of his friends was waiting for them. The following day, four more of his accomplices arrived at his apartment and forcibly drove Yadav to a remote dairy firm in Bahadurgarh, police stated.
He was threatened with severe repercussions, and the accused demanded payment to free him. According to the police, they forced Yadav to call his family members and send them a total of Rs 2.7 lakh using five different UPI IDs.
After receiving the ransom money, the defendant dropped him off close to the Bahadurgarh City Metro Station and warned him not to report the event to the police, they said.
According to DCP (IGI Airport) G Ram Gopal Naik, Yadav filed a case against five suspects, including Ajay, on September 22 at the Delhi Airport police station.
An FIR was filed based on the victim's allegation under sections 364 A (kidnapping for ransom) and 120B (criminal conspiracy) of the Indian Penal Code, according to the DCP.
He stated that on Monday, three accused, identified as Praveen Kumar (27), Vikas (26), and Harphool Singh (33) were detained by police following the start of an inquiry.
The DCP stated that actions are being taken to find Ajay and the fifth defendant in the case.
