Passengers at Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport, Delhi, chose to sit on the floor near the boarding gate, although there were numerous vacant chairs. The visuals of this incident were shared by an X user named Vishnu Thavara on his social media handle.
The pictures on X showed other passengers near boarding gate 42C sitting or sleeping on the ground as they appeared to wait for a delayed, late-night aircraft. The pictures also revealed that some people chose to sleep on the ground instead of using the available seats.
“Our airports should be equipped with sleeping facilities for late-night travelers/or at least some facilities (October 28, 2024, from Delhi to Port Blair). And the last-minute gate change with the announcement delay? Come on, @airindia, you can do better! @DelhiAirport @AAI_Official," Thavara wrote on X.

There are not many cozy places to sit close to this airport gate. The sad situation has arisen due to the lack of sleeping or recliner chairs for people who want to sit comfortably or rest. Without adequate substitutes, travelers were observed sitting on the ground.
Meanwhile, to expedite operations and passenger flow during flight delays brought on by fog, bad weather, and technical difficulties, Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL) has installed temporary enclosures at Indira Gandhi International Airport.
According to PTI, the enclosures were made to enable passengers who disembark from aircraft after they had been delayed for more than three hours to return to the terminal more quickly and then board their respective planes again. DIAL announced Monday that it had added protective enclosures to T1, T2, and T3.
