"In the first phase, 130 villages got pipeline connections, and today, in the second phase, 111 villages are getting pipeline connections. Now 116 villages are left, and I promise you that by the end of this year, they will also receive pipeline connections," Gupta said.

CM further added that elected representatives previously faced challenges in getting gas pipeline connections installed, despite their significant role in making the lives of homemakers easier.

"Some of the MLAs used to have a problem with the installation of the pipeline, I don't know why. If this eases the life of housewives, then what is the problem here?" the Delhi CM said, adding that the establishment of PNG (Piped Natural Gas) networks was suggested by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

"Before PM Modi came to power, there were small necessities that didn't prevail in the society. He was the one who addressed that there should be toilets, PNG.... he addressed the problem of kitchen smoke, lack of washrooms," Gupta said.

She also said that with the introduction of PNG connections, gas will be available round the clock, effectively resolving all related issues, including those of leakages.

"When cylinders used to blast, there were fires due to leakage, and we have faced this. Now, gas will reach through the pipeline and will be available 24x7, ending all problems. Nobody even thought that villages could also have a pipeline," Gupta said.

Delhi Minister Ashish Sood said, "The vision of PM Narendra Modi was to remove smoke from all the household kitchens. Till 2022, 30% of the villages still used conventional ways of energy, and that has now changed. A new chapter has been started with 111 villages."

Delhi Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena attended the event alongside Chief Minister Rekha Gupta and other state government ministers. They also took part in the foundation stone laying ceremony for a 500 kW solar energy plant at the Delhi Assembly complex.

"Built in 1912 as the Parliament of India, the Assembly building and complex is an important part of our heritage. The steps taken here towards green energy are commendable. We need to restore this historical heritage and make it accessible to the people of Delhi," LG Saxena posted on X.
