The Delhi police special cell on Sunday arrested a 41-year-old man linked to the banned terror group Babbar Khalsa International (BKI) for his involvement in a grenade attack on a police station in Punjab. Karanvir Singh, the accused, who originally hails from Kapurthala, has been accused of carrying out a rocket-propelled grenade (RPG) attack on the Qila Lal Singh Wala police station in the Batala district on April 7. While the authorities suspected that the accused had flown to Pakistan, he was hiding in the different regions of Punjab and Delhi.

Apart from carrying out a deadly attack on the police station, Singh is also accused of several other charges. Earlier in 2023, Interpol had issued a Red Corner Notice against him for involvement in several illegal activities. Interpol’s official portal suggests that Singh was framed under multiple charges, including murder, violations of the Arms Act, criminal conspiracy, fundraising for terrorist activities, and membership in a banned terror group.

The accused belonged to Amritsar and was booked under the Arms Act by the Special Cell. While providing details, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Special Cell) Amit Kaushik stated that the accused was working as a crane operator at a construction site in Indore.
