"Special Cell NDR has arrested 9 accused working at the behest of Pak ISI-Mumbai Underworld network. They were tasked to attack vital installations and security personnel in Delhi. Arms and explosives have been recovered from their possession," Delhi Police Special Cell informed in a post on X.

The module had been developed by the ISI for a long period of time and was assigned to carry out terror attacks on key institutions and religious sites of the national capital, reported news agency ANI, citing sources.

The Delhi police, during its operation, recovered several modern firearms from the arrested individuals, reported the news agency. The recoveries include firearms, sophisticated explosive materials, and multiple hand grenades, effectively neutralising an immediate threat to the capital's security.

The Delhi Police Special Cell has initiated a comprehensive probe into the module's funding channels, recruitment patterns, and logistical support networks. Investigators are also extensively examining the roles of handlers and local facilitators involved in the alleged terror conspiracy.

Earlier last month, the agencies successfully brought Mohammad Salim Dola, a high-ranking associate of fugitive underworld don Dawood Ibrahim, to India from Turkey. He was apprehended from a residence in Istanbul's Beylikduzu district following a targeted operation by the Narcotics Crimes Division of the Istanbul Police Department and was processed for deportation.
