Delhi Rain Today: The national capital woke up to heavy rains accompanied by thunderstorms in the early hours of Friday, bringing relief from the persistently humid weather. According to the India Meteorological Department, the national capital and its surrounding areas are predicted to receive additional showers later in the day. The maximum temperature is expected to be around 35 degrees Celsius, while the minimum will hover around 27 degrees Celsius. The weather department has issued a "yellow" alert in Delhi for Saturday, predicting that rain will continue to lash the city till July 28.

"Light rainfall/drizzle is very likely to occur at a few places in Delhi ( Narela, Alipur, Badili, Pitampura, Punjabi Bagh, Seelampur, Shahadra, Vivek Vihar, Red fort, President House, Rajiv Chowk, ITO, India Gate, Lodi Road, RK Puram, Defence Colony, Hauz Khas, Malviya Nagar, IGNOU, NCR ( Hindon AF Station, Ghaziabad, Gurugram, Ballabhgarh) Meham (Haryana) Saharanpur, Deoband, Muzaffarnagar, Sadabad (UP) during next 2 hours," the IMD wrote in a post on X.

Following heavy rainfall, several parts of Delhi faced traffic jams and waterlogging issues. Slow traffic movement was observed at the Motibagh Ring Road as a result of heavy rains. Waterlogging was also reported in Bhikaji Cama Place, Nauroji Nagar and Shanti Path after the morning showers.

In June, the city received the highest rainfall recorded in 88 years. According to the IMD, Delhi experienced 228 mm of rainfall from 8:30 AM on June 27 to 8:30 AM on June 28. A total of 235.5 mm of rain was recorded, marking the maximum rainfall in 24 hours in June since 1936.

Weather In Delhi For Next 5 Days

In the coming five days, Delhi is expected to see maximum and minimum temperatures around 34 and 26 degrees Celsius, respectively. A generally cloudy sky with light rain is predicted in Delhi till July 29. The national capital is to see rain or thundershowers on July 30 and 31.
