Delhi Rain Today: Heavy rain lashed Delhi and Noida on Wednesday evening, offering much-needed relief from the recent heatwave. The rain, which was forecasted by the India Meteorological Department (IMD), led to a noticeable dip in temperature and brought cloudy skies and strong winds across the region.

Several areas in Delhi experienced waterlogging, leading to inconvenience for commuters. Despite this, many residents welcomed the rain after enduring days of heat and humidity. Gurugram is likely to receive rain soon, while Ghaziabad and Faridabad recorded heavy showers earlier in the day.

Delhi Traffic Update

Authorities have flagged a high risk of localised flooding on roads, particularly in low-lying areas across Delhi-NCR. Several underpasses in vulnerable zones may face temporary closures due to rising water levels, while traffic movement across key stretches is expected to slow down significantly.

The IMD cautioned that heavy rain could lead to occasional visibility reductions, especially for motorists navigating slippery and waterlogged roads, raising the risk of accidents and extended traffic snarls.

Delhi Weather Yellow Alert

The IMD had already issued a yellow alert for the national capital, forecasting light to moderate rainfall along with thunder and lightning for Wednesday. According to the forecast, Delhi is likely to experience a maximum temperature of 34 degrees Celsius, with the minimum recorded at 26.4 degrees Celsius. Humidity levels stood at 81 per cent. The city’s air quality improved with an AQI reading of 83, which falls under the 'satisfactory' category.

On July 10, Delhi is likely to witness heavy showers with temperatures falling to a high of around 29.9 degrees Celsius. Moderate rainfall is expected on July 11, while July 12 and 13 may see light, patchy rain. A sharp rise in temperature is predicted for July 14, with a high of nearly 39 degrees Celsius, though rain is expected to offer some relief.

The showers are expected to help maintain better air quality and bring temporary relief from the rising heat.
