Vehicles heading towards Faridabad had to be diverted from MB Road via Maa Anandmayee Marg, Kalkaji Temple and Modi Mill towards Mathura Road. As a result, major roads including Okhla Estate Road, MB Road, Maa Anandmayee Marg and Mathura Road experienced massive traffic jams that lasted until late night.

Apart from Sarita Vihar and Pul Prahladpur, rainwater also flooded Mehrauli-Badarpur Road, Sangam Vihar, Ratia Marg, Mangal Bazaar, Sainik Farm, Okhla Phase-3 to Govindpuri Road, Kashmiri Lal Dhingra Marg, Hansraj Sethi Road and the stretch beneath Modi Mill Flyover. Movement of autos and e-rickshaws was disrupted due to knee-deep water on several of these roads, especially in Sangam Vihar’s Ratia Marg.

Delhi Rain Today: Locals Blame Incomplete Drain Desilting

Despite recent de-silting claims by civic bodies, locals alleged poor drain cleaning as a key reason behind the flooding. Former councillor Khavindra Singh Captain said drains along Kashmiri Lal Dhingra Marg in Ward 175, Kalkaji, were not cleared properly, resulting in water stagnation. Similar conditions were observed at Hansraj Sethi Marg.

Amid the chaos, children from nearby slum clusters were seen playing in flooded stretches near the Modi Mill flyover on Mathura Road. While many took it as an opportunity for fun, the situation was risky with moving traffic nearby.
