Delhi Weather: The month of June in Delhi began with the coldest temperatures in three years. On Monday, the first day of the month, both the maximum and minimum temperatures were the lowest since 2023. However, amid a yellow alert and cloud cover, rain was expected throughout the day.
According to India Meteorological Department (IMD), similar weather conditions will persist throughout the week. On Monday, Delhi's maximum temperature was recorded at 36.3 degrees Celsius, 3.7 degrees below normal.
The minimum temperature was 24.9 degrees Celsius, 2.0 degrees below normal. The humidity level ranged from 84 to 42 percent. Previously, on June 1, 2023, the maximum temperature was recorded at 32.7 degrees Celsius and the minimum at 20.6 degrees Celsius.
No rain, skies to remain cloud on Tuesday
According to the weather department officials, no alert has been issued for Tuesday, but cloudy skies and light rain are expected in the afternoon or evening. During this period, there are chances of strong winds with speed of 40 to 50 kmph and thunderstorms with lightning.
No heatwave in first week of June
According to a report by Jagran.com, Skymet Weather expert Mahesh Palawat said that there is no possibility of heatwave in Delhi in the first week of June. However, due to the weakening of the ongoing rain activities, the temperature is expected to rise gradually from Tuesday but it will still remain under control.
The weather department has predicted that on Tuesday, the minimum temperature in Delhi may be around 24 degrees Celsius while the maximum temperature may be around 37 degrees Celsius.
