The repair work of the Sarita Vihar Flyover on Mathura Marg in Delhi will start on October 1. The traffic police have given permission to the Public Works Department (PWD) for this. As the work begins, it may increase the problems of the drivers going from Delhi to Faridabad. However, the police has issued an advisory to use alternative routes. The work will be done in the first and second phases from October 1 to 30.

PWD will also prepare its advisory and send it to Delhi Information and Publicity Department for publication. Police have also prepared banners related to the guidelines. These will be put up at various places on Mathura Road on Friday so that the drivers passing through this road can know about the repair work. Over one lakh vehicles pass through Mathura Road every day.

Repair Work Will Be Done In Four Phases For Two Months

This flyover connects the Noida and Faridabad areas of NCR to South-East Delhi and Badarpur. Its repair work will be completed in four phases in a period of two months. One phase will have 15 days. Under this, at first, the flyover going from Ashram to Badarpur will be repaired for 30 days.

After this, the third and fourth phase of work will be done on the flyover coming from Badarpur towards Ashram. This will ensure that the entire flyover will not be closed at one time.

To keep the traffic smooth, a cut will be made at the start and end of the flyover on the road from Ashram to Faridabad. This will allow one lane of traffic coming from the Ashram to run on the flyover from Faridabad in the evening.

Expansion Joint Of Flyover Will Be Replaced

This flyover was constructed by the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) in 2001. In the repair work, seven expansion joints of the flyover will be replaced. Bearings and surface repairs will also be done. Its repair is pending for the last two years, which was approved by the then PWD Minister Manish Sisodia in April 2022.

Traffic Police Advisory For First And Second Phase

- South District Traffic Deputy Commissioner of Police Vikram Singh said that in the first phase, from October 1 to 30, half of the carriageway of the flyover from Ashram to Badarpur will remain closed for traffic. While the other half of the carriageway will remain open for traffic 24 hours. The second carriageway from Badarpur to Ashram will remain completely open for traffic.

- Passengers travelling to railway station, airport, hospital etc. should plan their departure in advance and choose alternate routes to avoid congestion and delays.

- Drivers going from Ashram to Badarpur and Faridabad on Mathura Road reach Road No. 13-A from the slip road of Sarita Vihar flyover. Then take a U-turn from here and reach Mathura Road and reach your final destination.

- Passengers coming from Ashram and going to Noida via Mathura Road may use DND Flyway from Ashram Chowk to reach their destination.
