Delhi Fire NewsA fire broke out at PVR Cinemas in New Delhi’s Select Citywalk Mall on Wednesday evening, causing panic among the audience watching the movie at the cinema hall. The incident occurred during the 4:15 pm screening of the film Chhava when a corner of the movie screen caught fire due to a short circuit, an official said.

As fire alarms rang, the people present at the movie theatre rushed towards the exit doors. The cinema hall was quickly evacuated. No injuries were reported in the incident and the fire was quickly brought under control.

Delhi Fire Services received a call about the incident at 5:42 pm and dispatched six fire tenders. Officials stated that it was a minor fire and the situation was brought under control by 5:55 pm.

Meanwhile, Delhi Police received a call at 5:57 pm, initially reporting people trapped inside, but later confirmed that no one was harmed as everyone present at the theatre were evacuated soon after the fire broke out.

Veer Singh, who was watching the movie, initially mistook the flames for a scene in the film. "When smoke started billowing, people panicked and rushed out. The fire alarm went off, and the cinema staff guided everyone out safely," he recounted.

Authorities confirmed that the fire was caused by a minor short circuit and no major damage was reported.
