Delhi Weather: Delhi recorded its coldest November morning in three years on Sunday as the minimum temperature dropped to 9 degrees Celsius, which is 4.5 degrees below normal, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD). The last time the city saw a colder November morning was on November 22, 2022, when temperatures fell to 7.3 degrees Celsius.

In comparison, Delhi’s lowest minimum temperature in November 2023 was 9.2 degrees Celsius, while in 2024 the coldest morning was recorded at 9.5 degrees Celsius. The IMD has forecast light fog for Monday, with temperatures expected to remain around 25 degrees Celsius (maximum) and 9 degrees Celsius (minimum).

Air quality in the national capital remained a major concern. Delhi’s 24-hour average AQI stood at 377, placing it in the ‘very poor’ category. Data from the CPCB’s SAMEER app showed that 11 out of 39 monitoring stations reported air quality in the ‘severe’ range, with readings above 400. The CPCB noted that PM2.5 and PM10 particles continued to be the main pollutants.

While Delhi battles both cold mornings and toxic air, other northern states are also experiencing a sharp drop in temperatures. A cold wave has spread across parts of Uttar Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Jharkhand, prompting the IMD to issue a yellow alert.

Uttar Pradesh Weather

In Uttar Pradesh, cold northwesterly winds from the Himalayas have pushed temperatures below normal in cities such as Lucknow, Kanpur, Bareilly and Gorakhpur. Dense fog has reduced morning visibility in several regions, affecting road movement.

Chhattisgarh Weather

Chhattisgarh’s northern districts, Ambikapur, Surajpur and Korea, have also reported a sudden fall in night temperatures. Residents have been advised to take precautions during early morning hours when the cold is more severe.

Jharkhand Weather

Jharkhand is witnessing similar conditions in Ranchi, Dhanbad, Hazaribagh and Bokaro. The IMD has cautioned that temperatures may continue to fall over the next few days, with chances of frost in some higher-altitude areas.

Other northern states including Haryana, Punjab, Uttarakhand and Rajasthan are also experiencing icy winds from the Himalayas. Dense fog continues to disrupt visibility, affecting both rail and road traffic as cold wave conditions tighten their grip over North India.
