In a horrifying instance, an eight-year-old girl was strangled and her body discovered in an army cantonment area in Delhi after resisting a teen's attempt to rape her. The minor's body was discovered hanging from a rod in an empty building in the Shankar Vihar military area.

According to police officials, the minor girl was raped by a 19-year-old who lived in the same locality and has been arrested. The eight-year-old girl used to call him brother. The minor girl had gone missing on Monday evening, and her parents had been searching for her throughout the night. Her body was discovered on Tuesday morning, and a post-mortem examination has been conducted for further investigation.
 
The police utilized CCTV footage to apprehend the accused who was passing through the area.

"During interrogation, the accused revealed that he lured the victim, who used to call him 'brother,' to an isolated house in the locality and tried to force himself on her. When she resisted, he strangled her," a police official said as reported by PTI.

The accused also had tried to pass off the murder as a suicide by tying a scarf around her neck, the police added. Seeking justice for the minor girl, the relatives of the victim have demanded justice, alleging that she was raped and murdered. Locals had blocked the National Highway Jaipur Road in protest but ended their demonstration after receiving assurances from the police. The Station Commander of the Delhi Cantonment has ensured a thorough investigation and extended support to the grieving family.

"Our thoughts and prayers are with the bereaved family, and we remain in constant touch with them to provide any assistance they may require," he added.
