Delhi SIR: The Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of Delhi's electoral rolls is set to begin from June 30. During this period, Booth Level Officers (BLOs) will conduct a door-to-door survey to verify resident data.

Officials stated that the primary objective of this exercise is to completely update the voter list, ensuring that no eligible citizen is deprived of their right to vote.

Key Dates To Keep In Mind

- Following the completion of the field survey, a draft will be published on August 5, 2026.

- Citizens will have a one-month window from August 5 to September 4 to review the information and file claims or objections regarding errors in names, addresses, or omissions.

- The Election Commission has set October 1, 2026, as the eligibility date, allowing young citizens who reach the voting age by this date to enrol and secure their voting rights.

- Once all corrections are finalised, the revised and final voter list for Delhi will be published on October 7, 2026.

Delhi Gears Up For SIR

Extensive preparations are underway across the national capital for this large-scale exercise. According to the Election Commission of India (ECI), Delhi currently has 14,823,234 registered voters. A team of 13,026 Booth Level Officers (BLOs) have been deployed to conduct a door-to-door survey and verify these numbers.

To ensure maximum transparency throughout the exercise, political parties are playing a crucial role by fielding 28,881 Booth Level Agents (BLAs) to monitor the process and assist officials.

SIR Work Done In 13 States

The Election Commission has so far completed the SIR process in 13 states, including Bihar and Uttar Pradesh. Furthermore, based on the new voter lists prepared after the SIR, it has also conducted assembly elections in six states, including Bihar.
