In a major bid to curb pollution, App-based aggregators providing goods, food, and travel services in Delhi will be barred from adding petrol and diesel-powered vehicles to their fleet from January 1.
Instructions have been issued not to include any conventional vehicle running solely on petrol or diesel in the existing fleet of two-wheelers and light goods vehicles operated by aggregators and delivery service providers.

However, aggregators will be allowed to add BS-6 emission standard two-wheelers to their fleet till December 31, 2026, after which they will be required to replace their fleet with fully electric vehicles.
The plan is intended to address air quality, as well as improve upon other long-term goals outlined earlier in 'Delhi Motor Vehicle Aggregator and Delivery Service Provider Scheme (2023)'.
The regulations are being imposed, primarily aimed at those in the `high-use` category, such as: 2-wheels, 3-wheelers and delivery trucks, are responsible for significant amounts of pollution being generated due to the number and frequency of their trips and because many of them tend to be in use all day long.
The Draft Policy stated that all other portions of the Policy previously outlined in the 'Delhi Motor Vehicle Aggregator and Delivery Service Provider Scheme (2023)' will remain in effect.
The principal objective of this new regulation is to streamline the number of electric vehicles used by any company that provides service through the aggregator system, and at the same time, lower the amount of pollution from those vehicles operating within the Delhi region from high-use facilities/vehicles.
