After the Supreme Court of India reserved the decision on lifting the ban on bursting of green crackers in the national capital, the Delhi administration has prepared several measures to reduce the usage of traditional firecrackers. According to officials, directives have been issued to hold an awareness campaign and arrange forces to ensure compliance with the guidelines.

How Delhi Gears Up For Green Diwali

Instructions have been issued to implement anti-pollution measures across the Union Territory. The Delhi government is all set to enforce to anti-traditional firecracker guidelines, in case the Supreme Court decides to lift the ban on the green firecrackers.

Here’s what the Delhi administration plans to do-

-Administration will set up a dedicated control room to take action in case of violations during the festive environment.

-To tackle the issue of non-compliant firecrackers emitting higher pollutants, enforcement teams will be formed comprising personnel from the Delhi Police, Delhi Pollution Control Committee, and Municipal Corporation of Delhi.

-Administration plans to encourage citizens to report violations through platforms such as Sameer App, Green Delhi App, and other official channels to realise the ban on firecrackers.

-An awareness program will be undertaken to educate people about the type of green firecrackers and to let people know the type of firecrackers banned in Delhi.

Delhi Environment Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa said that if the Supreme Court lifts the ban on green firecrackers, the Delhi government is all prepared to ensure the compliane of order by the top court.

"If the ban on bursting firecrackers is lifted, we will immediately hold a meeting to take necessary steps in light of the court order," he said.

The Supreme Court has observed that an absolute ban on firecrackers in Delhi-NCR isn't feasible or sensible because such restrictions are frequently disregarded, and a balance needs to be struck between environmental concerns and public celebration.
